Our Story
Many Worlds.
One Tray.
Karne was born from a simple belief — that good food and Kosher don't just coexist. They belong together.
Why Karne Exists
Karne started with a question: Why was there no Kosher restaurant at CSUN?
We set out to change that. Karne is a Glatt Kosher meat restaurant rooted in Tex-Mex cuisine, built for everyone at CSUN and beyond. Our tray-based menu lets you build your perfect meal — a base, a protein, toppings, and sauces — all prepared with the same care and intention that defines both traditions.
We're not a fusion experiment. We're a statement: that bold flavor and the highest Kosher standard aren't opposites. At Karne, they're the same thing.
Kosher Standard
Glatt Kosher.
No Compromises.
Every item on our menu meets the strictest standard of Glatt Kosher. Our meat & chicken is Chasidishe Shechita — prepared under the personal supervision of Rabbi Chaim Shaul Brook from Chabad at CSUN.
This isn't a label we wear lightly. It's a commitment to every member of the Jewish community who trusts us with their table.

Our Mission
Good Food.
For Everyone.
Karne's mission is simple: bring exceptional Kosher food to campus and make it accessible to every student, regardless of background, faith, or diet. Kosher isn't just for the Jewish community — it's a standard of quality and care that everyone can feel good about eating.
Karne is certified Glatt Kosher, which is not Halal but according to most is permissible for Muslims to eat. Our meat and chicken is prepared under strict Kosher standards, making it a great option for anyone who values knowing exactly how their food was prepared. On top of that with our various vegetarian proteins like our Black Bean Chili, Falafel, and Quinoa Veggie Bowl, there's a tray for every lifestyle.
Great food has no barriers. At Karne, neither do we.
